Grease Monkey is a hybrid of GG4 (Gorilla Glue #4) and Cookies and Cream from Exotic Genetix, a Washington breeder; Leafly users most often report feeling relaxed, sleepy and hungry.1,2 It tests at a median total THC of 22.84% across 576 state lab tests of Grease Monkey flower, with the middle half of results between 19.39% and 27.08%.3 CBD is negligible: none of the 367 tests that reported CBD reached 1%.3

Not by Leafly’s listings. Weedmaps shows Grease Monkey as another name for Grease Bucket, but Leafly lists Grease Bucket as a separate Garlic Cookies × Banana Punch cross with energetic, creative and happy as its top effects, while Grease Monkey is GG4 × Cookies and Cream.1,10,11

High Times put Grease Monkey on its list of the 10 best strains of 2018, published in December 2017, praising its large, glistening buds, its returns on solvent and non-solvent extracts and an aroma that varies by phenotype, from hot cocoa, caramel and paint thinner to vanilla-bean latte.8 Earlier that year, a Grease Monkey entered by Maze Floriculture × Moxie Michigan placed 4th among hybrid concentrates at the 2017 Midwest Cannabis Cup.12 Seeds Here Now, which sells the original Exotic Genetix seeds, calls it "one of the most awarded strains the program has produced" without naming the cups.9 Exotic Genetix has also used it as a parent of Slapz, Apes in Space, Carmelita and Sweat Helmet.13,14,15,16
It does not appear on the sales charts we checked: Grease Monkey is not among Leafly’s best-selling strains of 2025 or in The Marijuana Herald’s state-by-state list of top sellers from September 2026, though its parent GG4 was the top strain in Leafly’s Washington, DC orders in 2025.17,18 On Leafly it has 602 ratings.1 It is the fifteenth most-tested of the 58 strains in our lab dataset.3 On Weedmaps on Oct 4, 2026, its flower had 173 store listings in 18 of the 27 markets we check.19
